It's another reason why I love working at C-SPAN. A woman made history today and I bet many of you had no idea it happened. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't been watching. Everyone watched Hillary Clinton's historic bid for the Democratic nod for the Presidency. Many others watched as her fellow female torch bearer (despite standing on opposite sides of the political spectrum) Sarah Palin also tried to make history by being the first female vice president.
Well, today another woman made history without sending huge, yet deserved, waves through the country. Today General Ann Dunwoody became the first ever female four-star general in U.S. military history. She will assume command of the U.S. Army Materiel Command today.
During her promotion ceremony earlier this morning, she was accompanied by her husband, father and various family members. You can see the entire ceremony at www.c-span.org. It's obvious this woman is quite accomplished and another person that makes me proud of how far women have come!
On another note.. I'm feeling very "woman power" lately after reading some of Elizabeth Cady Stanton's writing. Ladies.. you must read!

I love it! It makes political conversations with the family very fun. My mom hates that she doesn't know who I voted for!

I haven't been able to find any Spanners who want to do Crossfit with me. Where do you Crossfit?
Lets see, I spend a lot of time on various playgrounds in Old Town Alexandria :-) I also have a really crappy apartment gym with very minimal equipment. Doesn't sound great but it gets the job done, for the most part. I am learning more and more about parkour stuff too and lots of bodyweight exercises.
Check out Primal Fitness in DC. They have some good parkour guys there.

It is a cool place, I just lack funding to get involved heavily with any monthly organization/gym. If I am ever able to swing it, though, I'll probably end up at either CFOT or Primal.
Well, we both know I'm a huge proponent of CFOT!
