I've Never Seen You Eat so Much

Saturday, January 26

I was planning on having a date night at my favorite bookstore in Dupont Circle last night, but ended up going out to dinner and drinks with family. Actually, I generally am eating something at the bar with a glass of wine and they are doing drinks. Last night was a cheat night, and I did some serious Zone cheating. For those of you who don't know, I have a wicked sweet tooth.

I started out with calamari for appetizer that we all shared, then I actually ordered pasta!!! I haven't eaten pasta in months... and I haven't ordered it at a restaurant in YEARS! I enhaled that and then of course went on to dessert. Tiramisu with two cups of coffee. After I finished my mass consumption, my family looked at me and genuinely asked if I was depressed. Then they went in for the kill. All three said, "We've never seen you eat this much... ever." I couldn't believe it. How nice of them.

Anyway I have been really hungry lately, so I don't know if it's my zoning or if I'm stressed out. I'm thinking of pumping up one of my snacks to 2 blocks instead of 1. Who knows?

I was ready for a good work out this morning.

Warmup:
30 seconds
hang squat med ball power cleans
jumping jacks
sumo DL high pull
switch jumps

Workout:
About 75 pullups .. It was enough to make my lats scream in pain

3 Rounds
Weighted Jumping squats 15lbs
ASMAP in 1 minute
41-41-32

My legs were crippled after this one!

Tug of War (I dislike this more than rowing)
I lost every round of tug of war I participated in. I just don't think I can get into it. ?? Don't know why ??

When I did the one on one tug of war with Andrea I didn't want to pull that hard - I don't like competing like that. Maybe that's one of the reasons you couldn't get into it?

All I can say is thank god your family doesn't eat out with me! :P LOL. If you think about your hunger in terms of pysiology (is that the right word?), it might help. Your daily caloric intake is based on the needs of your body. As you lose body fat and gain muscle, your caloric needs shift. It takes more calories to move muscle than it does to move fat. It takes a certain amount of calories for your body to move your body weight, but as you've gotten more fit (which you have and you look totally great by the way and I'm insanely jealous) you're now moving more muscles which require more energy to move, which require more calories. As you get more and more "solid" (meaning less body fat) you'll probably need to adjust your zone blocks. Think about people who work out hard core all the time. Their caloric needs are often higher than 3000. You have gotten so fit you may need to adjust. It may be a minor adjustment, so I think what you said sounds good. Start by adjusting your snacks. But don't worry! That's a good thing! :)
